Random Acts of Kindness Close to Home –
Anonymous Donor…
Donorschoose.org is an organization that has fulfilled the requests of over 600,000 teachers through donations from very generous donors through-out the country. In August of this year, just prior to the school year starting, an anonymous donor from Otis fully funded 3 projects that were ongoing for Farmington River Teachers.4 new laptops were purchased for Ms. Graham’s class in Grade 3, a backpack cart and rolling teacher cart for Mrs. Martin’s class in Grade 1 , and math, ela, and dra-matic play manipulatives for Mrs. Hamill’s pre-k classroom. Thank you to this very generous donor for supporting our school!

Counselor’s Corner: December is here already, the holidays are some of our most favorite times. The students here are excited to kick off another holiday, as it’s a great time to remind them it’s the season of giving. Our students are thoughtful, and generous to each other here, and in the community! During “Miss Terri Time” in all the classes we will be focusing on recognizing the community. We will be choosing different community helpers to learn about and to make cards or posters for during the holiday season! AND….. The sixth grade will also be decorating cookies for a local Rehabilitation & Nursing home. What better way to teach students how to be kind and caring, especially during the holiday season! Make sure you look for your child’s work of art in some of the local businesses. We hope you all have a safe and Happy Holiday!
A HUGE thank you to “Officer Dan” from the Otis Police De-partment for visiting our pre-k classrooms this month and giv-ing them a tour of his cruiser.
Computer Fun and Learning – What’s the Main Idea? This December, get your child excited about finding the main idea of a paragraph or story with this selection of col-orful, interactive games and stories! The main idea is the point of the paragraph. It is the most important thought about the topic. To figure out the main idea, ask yourself this question: What is being said about the person, thing, or idea (the topic)? The author can locate the main idea in dif-ferent places within a paragraph. The main idea is usually a sentence, and it is usually the first sentence. The writer then uses the rest of the paragraph to support the main idea. Go to any web browser and type in the link below or look for the links on our school website: www.frrsd.org.

Farmington River Chain of Gratitude
During the month of November the students and staff created a chain of gratitude. Each member of the Farmington River family wrote down one thing they are grateful for this holiday season. Our school adjustment counselor, Terri DiGrigoli took each link and joined them together. Please take a moment as you exit our building to see all that we are grateful for this year!
